“There Is A Me That I Could Be” – Inspirations from Lebo Mashile’s poem

On 30 May 2012, MasterCard Worldwide joined hands with Junior Achievement South Africa (JASA) to enable four hundred and fifty female learners from 10 South African schools to take part in Junior Achievement South Africa’s globally recognised entrepreneurship development programme, JA BizVenture. This has been made possible by a R1million donation from MasterCard Worldwide.

At the launch function of this programme, a prominent female celebrity, Lebo Mashile, was invited as the guest speaker. Among other topics, she spoke about grassroots values, which the audience could easily relate to and understood well. In addition, Lebo is also a poet, and she recited one of her writings, which we found very touching and would like to share it with you:

I heard Lebo Mashile recite this poem at 2015 Lebone Leadership Festival, till this day the poem still pushes me for success and it shows me how often we as young girls runaway from ourselves and we are so encaged. A special thanks to Lebo, as she opened my eyes.
